The 2026 Festival Theme is Collective Stories. Collective Power.
Screen Share brings together filmmakers from across the Caribbean and its diaspora whose stories illuminate the ways individuals, families, and communities navigate history, identity and transformation.
This year’s programme reveals a region in conversation with itself—through memory and myth, resistance and resilience, grief and joy. Across documentaries, narrative films, experimental works and animated stories, we encounter artists, activists, elders, dreamers and ordinary people confronting inherited wounds and tapping into inherited wisdom. These films explore the enduring legacies of colonialism, migration, environmental injustice and displacement, while celebrating the cultural traditions, creative practices and collective struggles that continue to sustain Caribbean life.
From the sounds of calypso and steelpan to the traditions of tambú and bomba to the stories carried through food, folklore, family histories and ancestral memory, these works remind us that culture is not static inheritance but a living practice of survival and renewal. Whether reclaiming silenced histories, protecting threatened landscapes, preserving community knowledge or challenging systems of exclusion, the protagonists of these films demonstrate the power of collective action and shared remembrance.
The Caribbean has long been a place where stories travel—across islands, languages, oceans, and generations. Screen Share embraces that movement. It invites audiences to witness how personal narratives become communal histories, how local struggles resonate globally and how cinema can create spaces of connection across difference and distance.
