CaribbeanTales Media Group
Built over 20 years, The CaribbeanTales Media Group is the only media group in Canada that provides an ecosystem of screen-based activities that serve Black Canadian, and culturally diverse audiences. CTMG is Black-owned, staffed and controlled. Our Board leadership and staff are mainly Black and are culturally diverse. CTMG provides a pipeline of activities from creation to distribution that aims to uplift, enrich, promote and monetizse Black and culturally diverse film and television content for audiences.
CaribbeanTales Media Group (CTMG) is a multifaceted group of media companies that produces, markets, and sells culturally diverse film and television content. Founded by award-winning filmmaker and Academy member Frances-Anne Solomon, CTMG includes: CaribbeanTales Inc, a registered Canadian Charity; CaribbeanTales Worldwide Distribution, a film distribution entity; the CaribbeanTales International Film Festival, now celebrating 15 years; Caribbeantales-TV a VOD streaming service; the CaribbeanTales Incubator (CTI), a year-round development and production hub for Creatives of Colour; and CaribbeanTalesFlix, our production arm.
In 2014, Frances-Anne Solomon founded CineFAM, to amplify the voices of women of colour creators worldwide that now includes an annual film festival, a microcinema challenge for emerging creators, and an incubator for first-time feature directors.
CaribbeanTales International Film Festival
The CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF), our flagship program, celebrates its 15th year in 2020.
According to the 2016 Census, there are nearly 2 million Canadians of Caribbean and African origin, not including those born in Canada. CTFF serves this important demographic, as well as those from the wide Caribbean Diaspora, including Europe, the Americas, China, India and the Middle East.
CTFF celebrates the talents of established and emerging filmmakers of Caribbean and African heritage who practice their art across the Caribbean Diaspora worldwide.
CTFF presents a multi-ethnic mix of exciting and dynamic films that showcase diverse and shared stories as well as cultures.

JULY – MEDIA LAUNCH & PROGRAM REVEAL
The festival highlights and screens a film with media, sponsors and the public in attendance.
JULY & AUGUST – COMMUNITY SCREENINGS
We partner with high schools and community organizations to screen and facilitate discussions of Afri-centric films, in fulfilment of our educational mandate.
SEPTEMBER – OPENING NIGHT RED CARPET GALA
Hosted by the Title Sponsor, this signature event features a gala reception, live steelpan music, delicious Caribbean cuisine, and is followed by a world premiere screening, and talkback with celebrities.
SEPTEMBER – JURIED SCREENINGS
Nine themed nights of screenings followed by talk-backs hosted by community partners and filmmakers.
