ABOUT THE FILM
“Way of Giants” is a poetical search for purpose and reason that follows the story of Oquirá, a six year old indigenous girl, as she confronts the cycle of life and the concept of destiny. The film explores the many forces in nature and our connection with the earth and its elements. The music was played and composed by the Andean music master, Tito la Rosa, who came to São Paulo to work on the film.
Alois Di Leo was born in Lima, Peru and raised in São Paulo, Brazil where he founded the animation studio SINLOGO Animation. He graduated with an MA in animation direction at the NFTS in London. His first animated short “The Boy Who wanted to be a Lion” premiered at Semaine de la Critique du Festival de Cannes in 2010 and played in several festivals around the world winning a few awards notably the Lotte Reiniger Award at the “Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film.”
His second short animated film “Way of Giants” premiered in Annecy in 2016 as part of the official selection. So far the film has been selected for over 60 festivals and won a few awards such as “Best of the Fest” at the Chicago Children’s Film Festival, “Prix Tv5 Monde” at the Festival Biarritz Amérique Latine and “Best Director” at Curta Cinema 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
